Effective Practice
Lesson 7: General vs Feedback Drills
Making the most of our time whilst practicing is arguably one of the most important tasks we should set for ourselves. Knowing when to use different types of drills is crucial to understanding how to better ourselves.
Sit back and enjoy as this video takes you through the difference between a general and feedback based drill!
Lesson 6: Shallow vs Steep
In this video, Alex takes you through the commonly misunderstood definition of shallow vs steep!
Lesson 5: Random Practice
In this video, Alex will take you through exactly what Random practice is! Random practice is that portion of time that amateur golfers seem to just leave out of their training. Yet, is something we see all of the most successful golfers in the world have included within each day of their practice.
Lesson 4: Blocked Practice
What actually is blocked practice? and what is the science behind it?
In this video we will take you through the scientific benefits of adding blocked practice to your daily practice routine. Despite there being a lot of noise around prioritising random practice the truth behind becoming elite lies within neural pathway development and being able to perform subconsciously when in competition. This comes back to your blocked practice.
Lesson 3: Speed Control with Putting - Shot Patterns
Speed Control is and forever will be the most important part of putting.
Watch as this video takes you through helping you understand how making your dispersion within your putting smaller will improve your putting dramatically.
Lesson 2: The Three Pillars of Practice
This video explains the three main pillars of your practice. Ensuring all three of these pillars feature within your practice session will ensure you at utilising your time to the best of your ability. It is that fine line of knowing when and how to work on our swing yet having the discipline to turn our minds back towards training the art of competing / playing the actual game of golf.
Lesson 1: Making Practice Harder Than Play
One of the hardest things about the game of golf is that it is played in a completely seperate environment to that of where we practice. Therefore, it can be hard to imitate the emotions and feelings in which we can expect to experience when competing. By learning to make practice harder than play we best prepare ourselves for the emotional challenge golf presents each and every time we tee it up.
Welcome
Welcome to the Effective Practice classroom!
In this classroom we will be looking to ensure you are making the most of your time whilst practicing. It is safe to say that the way we decide to utilise our time ultimately dictates the person we become, this stems to things much bigger than just golf. If you are going to be dedicating a period of time each week to your golf let’s ensure you are using that time effectively to avoid plateauing in our development.
